Are we in a Fourth Turning?

“A startling vision of what the cycles of history predict for the future.”

Are we in a Fourth Turning? And what exactly is a Fourth Turning? A Fourth Turning is a recurring generation cycle in American history and global history.

First comes a High, a period of confident expansion as a new order takes root after the old has been swept away. Next comes an Awakening, a time of spiritual exploration and rebellion against the now-established order. Then comes an Unraveling, an increasingly troubled era in which individualism triumphs over crumbling institutions. Last comes a Crisis (this is where we are now) — the Fourth Turning — when society passes through a great and perilous gate in history. Together, the four turnings comprise history’s seasonal rhythm of growth, maturation, entropy, and rebirth.

It is to be observed that American history shows a new era, or “turning” about every 20 years.

so, here we are.

Typically, one generation is involved in the war, the next generation is the children during that war and takes a completely different set of lessons from that experience, etc.

The thing is that different generations have completely different collective experiences, they learn completely different life lessons and they learn completely different life lessons from what they’ve been through…

and this is where the life experiences differ from the Boomers versus the Millenials and why what was and what they think should be is completely life-changing, challenging, and different.

We are born into this world and we leave this world and it isn’t to be expected that the same cultural rules, thoughts, and ideas are to remain the same when we are awakening and evolving and cycling.

“Generational power transfers through a political crisis.”

but what do I know? That’s just an opinion from observation!
